We will have a look at what makes a Super Sourcer and more importantly how to become one. We will look at the wide array of skills and traits, and the tools and tech required to become a superior sourcer. Once again we will cover all aspects of sourcing in a way that #sosu is well known for – an uncompromising dissection and analysis of all things sourcing in Europe & around the world.
It will be a celebration of the skills, resilience and indomitable spirit of sourcers.
SUPERLATIVE GATHERING ON THE SUPER INFO HIGHWAY
The master info sleuth is back! He has been busy – unearthing the personal phone number of the dutch Prime Minister to hacking new gateways to the disbanded FB Graph Search. No one pushes the boundaries of internet search like Henk does. A favorite of #SOSU events in this session he will share new serendipitous ways of finding anything in an ever evolving digital world. This session will open your minds and eyes to a new world of searching for information.
It’s easy to talk about building diverse workplaces, but it’s not straightforward to build an inclusive pipeline. The problems faced by organisations to find more diverse candidates is symptomatic of the wider failures of the sourcing function. This session will focus on hands-on, actionable strategies and tactics to build authentic connections with folks who might not be in your pipeline now.
THE ART & SCIENCE OF PERSUASION. MASTERING SELLING FOR SOURCERS
Finding talent is getting easier, the real battlefront for sourcers is selling and persuading prospects. Persuasion is not simple or easy. It involves a range of skillset, including the ability to write powerful, meaningful and attention grabbing content. In this session master copywriter Mitch will dissect the role of selling in sourcing and how modern sourcers need to master the art and science of persuasion. This is a hands on session on how sourcers can transform their conversion rate through the subtle and powerful medium of persuasive writing and content.
DEFINING PROBLEMS & CRITICAL THINKING IN SOURCING
Data, tools and tech amounts to nothing if sourcers do not embrace the skills and aptitude for critical reasoning. More than anytime in history sourcers need to embrace and learn the art of creative and critical thinking. Often an outcome of embracing criticality is unearthing the problems rather than focusing on the outcome or solution. Paul will share his sourcing journey and identify where sourcers encounters bottlenecks. Often failures comes down to the lack of reasoning and a ‘rush to please’. Paul will offer a different version where sourcers ought to concentrate on finding problems rather than start with outcomes.

Your sourcing functions and effort are as good as the make-up of your team. Rick manages the EMEA sourcing team of 40 sourcers and is responsible for its growth and success. API’s! The power tech for sourcers. Not only will we talk demonstrate the use of API’s in sourcing, but we will also show you the next step: data enrichment. We will talk about the tools that can help you automate the process of enriching this data. This means matching sparse candidate profiles to their LinkedIn profiles. This means aggregating all of a candidate’s user profiles to a single page. And this also means finding candidate emails and verifying that the email you are sending is going to right person! Come join us, whether you are a newbie or an advanced sourcer. Be prepared to learn a lot and change the way you think about sourcing and information retrieval!
Aggregators are one of the foundations of sourcing. It’s a quick and effective way to harness people information on the web. There are lot of free and paid aggregators. How about building one for your own private use? Seemingly an aggregator that you can tailor to your own requirements. Master hacker and SOSU favorite Victor is going to showcase how you can build your own sourcing tool. This is a hands on session to get your hands dirty and make sense of search and automation. It’s a bold and first move for super sourcers.
Why should sourcers care about PRODUCT DESIGN? A lot actually. Behind every successful product is a highly tuned process to encourage idea generation and creative problem-solving, to eliminating errors and delivering in time. Sourcers can use the principles of successful product design to unearth new creative ways to find talent, and more importantly eliminate the bottlenecks in their processes. This session is a call for design thinking and embracing the proven productivity processes in sourcing.
Sourcing is tough, sourcing in new and unfamiliar is even tougher. Kristina is tasked to find talent in one of the most competitive tech market in the world – silicon valley; remotely. Kristina will share her journey including her research methodology and techniques. More importantly, she will cover the importance of motivation and self-belief, when requirements are constantly changing. This session explores in detail the often painful and ultimately joyful experience of finding success as a sourcer in a new market.
